Cost: £15.00 per night + £2.50 admin fee. (2 nights).
Please note a change in our payment request, we would appreciate payment at the time of booking as this enables us to cover any pre-payments needed for the rally site, etc. In any case please pay no later than 7 days before the rally to give us time to amend arrangements, etc.
The Site is level grass with plenty of space and a great view of the runway. We are therefore not restricted on the number of bookings.
There is no electric.
Black waste is disposed of behind the Bistro. Rally officers will direct you to this. There is a drinking water tap here also.
There are two toilets that can be used 24/7 along with the toilets in the Bistro that are available when it is open.
The Isle of Wight’s airport at Sandown offers a unique setting for campers seeking both excitement and relaxation. Its location promises an atmosphere brimming with energy and there is an 8 day Wing Walking event which starts on the Saturday. The gentle hum of engines and the wide-open skies create a sense of adventure from the moment you arrive, while the surrounding landscape invites exploration at a leisurely pace. As always, rally attendees are warmly invited to join in with as many activities as they choose, whether this be all of them or none at all.
The site is located adjacent to the runway and airport buildings, with walking paths available for both people and dogs. Due to regular aircraft landings, take-offs, and manoeuvres nearby, dogs must always remain on a lead to ensure safety for attendees and aircraft.
Sandown airport features an on-site bistro serving burgers, jacket potatoes, various specials, and a Sunday roast (extremely popular with our members) at £15.99 per head. Please indicate the number per party required to reserve a Sunday roast and pay directly with the Café on the day. The Aviation Museum on site will be open during the rally: https://wightaviationmuseum.org.uk/.
Walking routes are accessible in the surrounding area. Saturday morning’s walk, organised by the Rally Officers, will end at the Merrie Gardens where we have some vouchers for 40% off your main meal, anyone not wishing to walk can still join us there. The Rally Officers will update you on arrival.
Morrisons supermarket, which has a café and petrol station, KFC, the Honnor and Jeffrey Garden Centre with its café, as well as The Merrie Gardens pub are within walking distance along paved paths. https://www.merriegardenpubisleofwight.co.uk/menus.
