Welcome to the Isle of Wight Centre of the Caravan and Motorhome Club

An updated message for the Centre Chairman:

Hi Everyone,

I hope this finds you all safe and well.  I wanted to provide you all with an update regarding the impact the Covid-19 crisis has had on our plans for the 2020 Rally Programme.  After much discussion the Committee has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Rally Programme.  We hope you understand the rationale for this after reading the explanation below.
We are still waiting to hear from the Government about campsites reopening.  Meanwhile, this week, the Caravan & Motorhome Club has published its own protocol advising Centres on the Covid-Secure procedures to follow to ensure that they and their members are safe and well whilst on a rally.  The guidance is based on principles of minimal person-to-person contact, minimal common touch points, for example, contactless payments, maintaining social distancing and a full risk assessment being carried out prior to each event.
After the Centre Officers and I discussed the new protocols, Government guidelines and the impact that compliance would have on our planned rallies and social activities, we believe that there are a number of new requirements, which would be difficult to implement.  This would result in non-compliance with the protocols, a potential risk to the Centre Members attending any of our events and an unacceptable burden on the volunteer Rally Marshals and the Committee.
I know that many of us are desperate to resume rallying and to get out in our motorhomes and caravans but the health and well-being of our members is paramount at this time.  The Committee and I feel that the risk to our Centre members is too great to resume the 2020 Rally Programme at this time.
We have decided to concentrate on putting together a new schedule for 2021, when hopefully the current crisis will be a distant memory and we can celebrate and rally together without risking anyone’s health.  Our Secretary, David Lumley, is seeking advice from East Grinstead about how to plan for and conduct our AGM on 11 October 2020.  More information will follow.
May I take this opportunity to thank Rally Secretary, Andy Schofield, for his hard work in recent weeks as I know that he has been in constant touch with our campsites and is now making plans for 2021.
Thanks everyone, keep safe, looking forward to seeing you all again sometime soon.
Best wishes:
Jeff Johnson
