Rally  No  7 The Pub Rally
A good turn out and a lovely site

An unexpected visitor

However he wasn't a CAMC member so had to leave!

Some examples of the place-name competition - your guess is as good as mine!

Look who won a prize!

Marshmallows on the BBQ - delicious!

The National Rally, Ragley Hall, 24th to 28th May 2019

A view of the IoW centre at the National Rally at Ragley Hall.  The photo probably shows a tenth of the total number of units at the rally.  We are in the group bottom centre of the photo - if you look very closely, you can see us all in the group of people clustered round the SE District's BBQ (the blue and green gazebos)

And here are a few of us heading up to Ragley Hall

The Bluenose Rally April 2019 at Orchards Holiday Park

There was a great turnout for this, the first rally of the year, 24 units were booked for the weekend.

The weather did not quite conform to the rally's name - apart from a stiff breeze for most of the weekend, we had sunshine and many rally-goers spent Saturday afternoon relaxing next to their vans.

Ron and Ann kept us mentally challenged at the evening session - Friday was a location quiz, trying to identify Island places from old photos dated from the late Victorian era up to the 1960's.

Saturday was a touchy-feeling evening - trying to identify household objects concealed in cloth bags!  It was amazing how much discussion this quiz produced, and Ron had to call extra time so that all 22 objects could make their way round all the tables.

There are winners for both quizzes, but I don't think we were too concerned as to who won and who didn't - we had two great evenings.

Anne looking smug - she knows what's Ron has in store for us!
The "locations" quiz generated a lot of discussion

22 bags of unknown objects!
What on earth is this?

The next event is the Centre's birthday rally at Havenstreet Station.  This is a 3 night rally which coincides with the Railway's real ale festival and there is entertainment on each night.  Further information on the railway and the entertainment can be found on their web site https://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/events/real-ale-festival.aspx

To book go to the "Rally info" page.

Skittles evening at Shanklin Conservative club on 7th March 2019

Over 40 centre members attended the annual breakfast at Puckpool Park on Saturday 16th Feb.
It was great to see everyone again, and to welcome 4 new members to the centre.

It was a wet and windy rally at Dairyman's daughter, but this
did not spoil the celebration of 3 birthdays together
But even though there were 2 birthday cakes there was still
not enough room on them for all the candles needed to

The theme for this years Nettlestone Rally was Yellow, and Members certainly took that to heart,
yellow was everywhere, even some of the dogs had yellow collars

                                                                                                                                                          Nettlestone Aug 2018.

John and Norma took the yellow theme very seriously

                                                                                                                                                                                                        July 2018.

This motley crew from the IOW Centre, sailed the seas to plunder the many delights of the Devon & Cornwall

Holiday Rally, held in Exmouth. They plundered well too, winning a top prize in a Quiz and also won the Bingo prize.

Not sure if they will be invited back next year ?          July 2018

A very rare sign to be seen in the UK. This one was in Exmouth and parking was on the sea front and cost £25.00
                                                           for 7 days !!!!!

Sadly this was one of the last occasions that Angela and Graham
could attend before they move to pasture's new on the mainland.
many tributes were made to them, and the "odd" gift presented

                                                                                                                                                          Picture: Lee Day

Ken gave Graham a model of a car and caravan to keep in his office
as a reminder of the happy times Angela and he had experienced
                                                                      with the island Centre.

Grahams love of black pudding for breakfast is well known amongst Centre Members,
so Mac gave him an industrial size one, it might last him until he goes to the mainland ?

                                                                                                                                                                                                       Picture: Lee Day

In a highly charged emotional atmosphere, both for Angela and Graham and indeed
all Centre Members present, Graham explained the reasoning behind having to leave
the island, including new challenges job wise, and family matters.

Graham went on to say how Members had made them so welcome
and how much they had enjoyed their time with the Centre.

Both Angela and Graham could have not have been under any miss apprehension
as to how much Members valued their time with us, and how much affection and
                                                        regard was held for them.

19 vans were at the Thorncross Rally, plus many other Members came by car not wanting to
miss this important but tinged with sadness occasion

We all wished Angela and Graham every happiness in their new venture.

We are not sure if the Bishop of Cirencester knows what she has let herself in for, when
Graham is in party mode ?

Coffee morning, Ninham Farm May 2018.

There is of course no such thing as a perfect Rally, or is there ? We certainly got very close to having one
at this years 42nd Birthday Rally held at Havenstreet Railway in May 2018

We had wall to wall sunshine with no high winds for three days, Members were in good form, BBQ's were out
and well used,  and judging by the sound of bottles being put in the recycling bin, many thirsts were quenched.

The new Marquee had its first outing......

It all got a bit too much for some people

The first Rally of the season was always known as the, Blue Nose Rally,
and the first Rally of this new season certainly proved the point....it was cold

But it did not put off Members attending, some even went swimming ! Everyone
happy to be out in their vans and looking forward to an enjoyable year Rallying.

Kens choice of the Orchards and all its facilities for the first Rally of the year,
was met with universal approval.                               March  23 - 25.  2018.

Well it was billed as a fun evening and so it proved to be, when the Chairman asked the participating Members
"would you like to have this event again ? " he was meet with a resounding YES.

Held at the Conservative Club in Shanklin helped by friendly staff, good food and many laughs,
the evening could only be judged as a great success, many thanks were given to Glenys and David
for arranging this special and enjoyable event.                                     March 8, 2018.
